Three Ridges Landscape Architecture was established by Bill Mauzy to meet the needs of discerning property owners in central Virginia and its surrounding regions. 

 We strive to help conceive and create outdoor environments that reflect regional character, support natural systems, meet our client’s needs and, perhaps most importantly, enrich their lives in unexpected ways.

I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and have been a life-long resident of Virginia.  I bring over 30 years of experience in green-industry-related work and 15 years of design experience to Three Ridges.  I have worked in estate maintenance, fine gardening, planting installation, landscape construction, vineyard management, landscape photography, and, most recently, site planning and garden design with well-regarded firms in central Virginia.  My work has afforded invaluable lessons in creating dynamic, enduring landscapes and serving clients well. 

As an undergraduate at Virginia Tech I studied horticulture and history.  I returned to VT later to study landscape architecture and earned an MLA with honors in 2006.  I have a long-held interest in plants, particularly big, old trees.  On vacation, I can often be found seeking out old-growth forests or visiting gardens.  I’ve been a Virginia certified horticulturist and maintain an arborist certification through the International Society of Arboriculture.  I am passionate about photography as an art form and also offer custom commercial photography to designers, contractors, and garden/estate owners: www.mauzyphotography.com.  Away from work, I enjoy playing banjo and walking in the mountains with my family.
